Do I need Taxi Insurance?
Taxi Insurance is a requirement if you’re using your vehicle for Public/Private Hire Usage (the carriage of passengers for hire & reward)
Business use on a standard private car policy is not enough to use your car for Public/Private Hire use.
What is the difference between private hire and public hire insurance?
Private hire insurance – Caters to vehicles that require to be pre-booked in order to pick up passengers
Public hire insurance – Caters to vehicles available for immediate hire, this means they can be flagged down on the street or at a taxi rank, Public hire usage also covers private hire usage
Is taxi insurance more expensive than regular car insurance?

No, our taxi policies do not provide you with cover to drive other vehicles.
Does my No Claims Bonus (NCB) transfer from my regular car policy to my taxi policy?
No, we’re unable to accept private car no claims bonus on your taxi policy.

What Excess will I pay in the event of an accident?

Can other family or friends drive my taxi under my policy?
All Acorn taxi insurance policies will cover the specifically named drivers. However, certain licensing authorities have restrictions around this and therefore guidance from your council should be obtained prior to any request.
Do you offer cover for fleets?

Does my breakdown cover start straight away?
Your breakdown cover policy will start at the agreed inception date and time, however any insured incident occurring within 48 hours following Your initial purchase of this policy will not be covered.
